Here is a small system being installed that is useful for emergency situations and as a starter towards electrical independence. This client powers the living room lights, driveway and porch lights, outdoor AC outlet, stereo, TV, weekly household vacuuming chores, and in emergencies
the oil furnace blower.

The PV panel array is firmly mounted to the roof, using 3 inch stainless steel lag bolts into the roof trusses.

18 volts DC from the array is fed to the controller. An array disconnect switch is recommended for servicing. The controller regulates the current from the array and directs it to the batteries, stopping the charging cycle when the batteries are fully charged.

Below are the beginnings of a battery bank. (Four 100 A/H AGMs) More will be installed later.

Pictured above is the inverter, providing
convenient AC power for the home's
appliances. Also seen are the PV controller and array disconnect switch.  The installation is not yet complete, hence the untidy wiring.  All electrical installations must be done "to code."
